SUMMARY:Critical Edge Basic Home Defense with Shotgun
DESCRIPTION:Critical Edge’s Basic Home Defense with Shotgun course addresses both the avoidance of attack and the use of force if necessary.  The course explores the unique capabilities and limitations of the shotgun as a tool for home defense.  Much of the course deals with techniques and strategies designed to deter burglars\, home invaders and other criminals.   Included are ways to make your home less appealing to criminals who will be inclined to seek easier targets.  The course emphasizes hands on training and includes information on defensive shooting skills including shooting positions\, aiming and firing techniques\, the use of cover and concealment and the development of a home defense plan.   The skills presented in this course form the core shotgun skills used to counter a life-threatening attack in the home and include segments on self defense law and the aftermath of a defensive shooting. \nThe course is open to U.S. citizens age 18 and above.  Students below age 21 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.  Please coordinate the attendance of students below the age of 21 with Critical Edge in advance of signing up for the class.  There is no prerequisite for this class.  But\, students must be  familiar with the operation of their shotgun and demonstrate safe firearms handling skills throughout the course. \nYou will need your own eye and hearing protection\, as well as your own shotgun and 200 rounds of ammunition with number 8 birdshot for your shotgun.  A shell carrier is recommended. \nProgress through the course is not driven by a schedule.  We will move through the curriculum as quickly or slowly as necessary to allow the students to learn the material. \nTo reserve a spot in a class please go to the following to make payment:  https://criticaledge.us/make-a-payment/  The fee for the course is $200.00 per person.  To finalize registration\, please also send an email to:  carl.walker@criticaledge.us  providing the following information: \n\nName as you want it to appear on your certificate;\nMailing address;\nPhone number;\nPlease indicate if you are a member of the Duncannon Sportsmen’s Association;\nThe brand\, model and gauge of the shotgun you will be bringing to class;\nA brief description of your previous experience with firearms; and\nYour interests with regard to firearms and any firearms or personal security goals you may have.\n\nDates – November 12th and 13th  The classroom session will be held on Thursday the 12th in the Duncannon Sportsmen’s Association clubhouse beginning at 10:00 AM.   The live fire portion of the course will be held on Friday the 13th.   We will conclude at approximately 6:00 PM both days.  This course is limited to 12 people.
