SUMMARY:Critical Edge Home Defense with Shotgun
DESCRIPTION:Registration closed.  A shotgun can be a devastatingly effective apparatus for home defense.  But a shotgun is not a magic wand.  Like any tool\, a shotgun has advantages and disadvantages.  Critical Edge’s Home Defense with Shotgun course provides an overview of the advantages and disadvantages of a shotgun for protecting oneself and one’s family in the home.  Much of the curriculum parallels the Home Defense with Pistol course including techniques and strategies designed to deter burglars\, home invaders and other criminals.   Included are ways to make your home less appealing to criminals who will be inclined to seek easier targets.  The course also includes information on development of a home defense plan\, shooting positions\, aiming and firing techniques\, the use of cover and concealment\, and methods of clearing various types of firearm malfunctions.   The skills presented in this course form the core shooting skills used to counter a life-threatening attack in the home using a shotgun. \n  \nThe class addresses both the avoidance of attack and the use of force if necessary.  Much of the course deals with techniques and strategies designed to deter burglars\, home invaders and other criminals.   Included are ways to make your home less appealing to criminals who will be inclined to seek easier targets.  The course emphasizes hands on training and includes information on defensive shooting skills \, aiming and firing techniques\, the use of cover and concealment\, methods of clearing various types of firearm malfunctions and development of a home defense plan.   The material presented in this course includes segments on self defense law and the aftermath of a defensive shooting. \n  \nThe course is open to U.S. citizens age 18 and above that may legally possess a firearm.  Students below age 21 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.  Please coordinate the attendance of students below the age of 21 with Critical Edge in advance of signing up for the class.   There is no prerequisite for this class.  But\, taking the NRA Basic Pistol course or equivalent before undertaking the Home Defense course is highly encouraged.  Students must be thoroughly familiar with their pistol\, its operation and demonstrate safe firearms handling skills throughout the course. \n  \nProgress through the course is not driven by a schedule.  We will move through the curriculum as quickly or slowly as necessary to allow the students to learn the material. \n  \nDates – April 14 & 15\, 2021.  The classroom session will be held on Wednesday April 14th in the Duncannon Sportsmen’s Association clubhouse.   The live fire portion of the course will be held at the Duncannon Sportsmen’s Association pistol range on Thursday April 15th.  We will begin both days at 10:00 AM and will probably conclude at 6:00 PM both days. \n  \nTo reserve a spot in a class please go to the following to make payment:  https://criticaledge.us/make-a-payment/  The fee for the course is $230.00.  Members of the Duncannon Sportsmen’s Association\, veterans and first responders receive a $10.00 discount.  To finalize registration\, please also send an email (to:  carl.walker@criticaledge.us ) with the following information: \n  \nName as you want it to appear on your certificate; \nMailing address; \nPhone number; \nPlease indicate if you are a member of the Duncannon Sportsmen’s Association; \nThe brand\, model and caliber of any firearm you will be bringing to class; \nYour interests with regard to firearms and any firearms; and \nA brief description of your previous experience with firearms; and any personal security goals you may have. \n  \nDates – April 7th and 8th.  The classroom session will be held on Wednesday the 7th in the Duncannon Sportsmen’s Association clubhouse.   The live fire portion of the course will be held at the Duncannon Sportsmen’s Association pistol range on April 8th.  We will begin both days at 10:00 AM and will probably conclude at 6:00 PM both days.  This course is limited to 12 people. \n  \n
