SUMMARY:Critical Edge Home defense with Pistol
DESCRIPTION:Registration Closed.  Critical Edge’s Home Defense with Pistol course addresses both the avoidance of attack and the use of force if necessary.  Much of the course deals with techniques and strategies designed to deter burglars\, home invaders and other criminals.   Included are ways to make your home less appealing to criminals who will be inclined to seek easier targets.  The course emphasizes hands on training and  includes information on defensive shooting skills including shooting positions\, aiming and firing techniques\, the use of cover and concealment\, methods of clearing various types of firearm malfunctions and development of a home defense plan.   The skills presented in this course form the core shooting skills used to counter a life-threatening attack in the home and include segments on self defense law and the aftermath of a defensive shooting. \nThe course is open to individuals age 18 and above that may legally possess a firearm.  The course is open to individuals age 21 and above that may legally possess a firearm.  Under federal law\, however\, certain non-U.S. citizens are prohibited from participating in this course.    Only non-U.S. citizens who are: (1) lawfully permanent residents (e.g.\, green card holders); (2) refugees; or (3) individuals who have been granted asylum may participate in this course. Students below age 21 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.  Please coordinate the attendance of students below the age of 21 with Critical Edge in advance of signing up for the class.   There is no prerequisite for this class.  But\, taking the NRA Basic Pistol course or equivalent before undertaking the Home Defense course is highly encouraged.  Students must be thoroughly familiar with their pistol\, its operation and demonstrate safe firearms handling skills throughout the course. \nProgress through the course is not driven by a schedule.  We will move through the curriculum as quickly or slowly as necessary to allow the students to learn the material. \nDates – May 15th & 16th 2021.  The classroom session will be held on Saturday the 15th of  May in the Duncannon Sportsmen’s Association clubhouse beginning at 10:00 AM and probably concluding by 6:00 PM.   On Sunday we will convene in the clubhouse at 11:00 and then move to the pistol range to begin the live fire portion of the course beginning at 1:00 PM and will probably conclude at approximately 6:00 PM.  Due to the compressed period of range availability\,  this course is limited to 8 people. \nTo reserve a spot in a class please go to the following to make payment:  https://criticaledge.us/make-a-payment/  The fee for the course is $230.00.  Members of the Duncannon Sportsmen’s Association\, veterans and first responders receive a $10.00 discount.  To finalize registration\, please also send an email (to:  carl.walker@criticaledge.us ) with the following information: \nName as you want it to appear on your certificate; \nMailing address; \nPhone number; \nPlease indicate if you are a member of the Duncannon Sportsmen’s Association; \nThe brand\, model and caliber of any firearm you will be bringing to class; \nYour interests with regard to firearms and any firearms; and \nA brief description of your previous experience with firearms; and any personal security goals you may have. \n  \n
