SUMMARY:Critical Edge Intermediate Shotgun
DESCRIPTION:Continuing to build on the foundation of safely handling a shotgun acquired in the NRA Basic Shotgun class\, this class is orientated towards the defensive use of a shotgun and includes material on gun handling\, reloads\, malfunctions\, engagement of multiple targets and use of cover and concealment.  It is an ideal stepping-stone to a home defense with shotgun course and a great opportunity for students to polish the skills learned in the home defense class. \nThe drills will be “performance based” to increase the student’s knowledge\, competence and confidence with a shotgun. The drills will encompass rapid movement and other physical activity to push the students to perform under a degree of “stress.” \nThere is no prerequisite for this class.  Students must be familiar with the functions of their shotgun\, maintain safe firearm handling practices throughout the course and be able to safely load and unload their shotgun.  The course is open to U.S. citizens age 18 and above that may legally possess a firearm.  Under federal law\, however\, certain non-U.S. citizens are prohibited from participating in this course.    Only non-U.S. citizens who are: (1) lawfully permanent residents (e.g.\, green card holders); (2) refugees; or (3) individuals who have been granted asylum may participate in this course. Students below age 21 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.  Please coordinate the attendance of students below the age of 21 with Critical Edge in advance of signing up for the class. \nProgress through the course is not driven by a schedule.  We will move through the curriculum as quickly or slowly as necessary to allow the students to learn the material.  The training goals of the course are to provide an introductory foundation to enable for the student to safely and successfully practice defensive shotgun skills on their own and to prepare them to continue into more advanced training. \nLive fire will be conducted with the student’s shotgun and ammunition.  Expect to shoot 250 rounds during the live fire segment of the class.  Hearing and eye protection are required.  Semi automatic and pump shotguns in either 12 or 20 gauge are recommended for the class.  Single barrel/single shot shotguns and double barrel shotguns will greatly hamper the ability of students to participate in many of the drills and present a considerable barrier to defensive skills development.  A sling\, shotgun mounted shell holder and a body worn shell carrier are all recommended.   If you are purchasing a shotgun or accessories prior to this course\, check with Critical Edge for some advice about your options before spending your money. \nClass Date:  April 16\, 2022  (Sat).  We will meet in the Duncannon Sportsmen’s Association clubhouse beginning at 9:00 AM and probably conclude about 6:00 PM.   This course is limited to 9 people. \nPreregistration is required.  To reserve a spot in a class please go to the following to make payment:  https://criticaledge.us/make-a-payment/  The fee for the course is $100.00.  Members of the Duncannon Sportsmen’s Association\, veterans and first responders receive a $10.00 discount.  To finalize registration\, please also send an email to:   carl.walker@criticaledge.us.  Please include the following information: \nYour name as you want it to appear on your certificate; \nMailing address; \nPhone number; \nPlease indicate if you are a member of the Duncannon Sportsmen’s Association\, a veteran or a first responder; \nThe course title and the date(s) which you wish to attend; \nThe make\, model and gauge of any shotgun you want to bring to class; \nA brief description of your previous experience with firearms; and \nYour interests with regard to firearms and any firearms or personal security goals you may have.
