SUMMARY:Critical Edge Home Defense Pistol
DESCRIPTION:Class canceled for paving project at the Duncannon Sportsmen’s Association. \nCritical Edge’s Home Defense with Pistol course addresses both the avoidance of attack and the use of force if necessary.  Much of the course deals with techniques and strategies designed to deter burglars\, home invaders and other criminals.   Included are ways to make your home less appealing to criminals who will be inclined to seek easier targets.  The course emphasizes hands on training and includes information on defensive shooting skills including shooting positions\, aiming and firing techniques\, the use of cover and concealment\, methods of clearing various types of firearm malfunctions and development of a home defense plan.   The skills presented in this course form the core shooting skills used to counter a life-threatening attack in the home and include segments on self defense law and the aftermath of a defensive shooting. \nThe course is open to individuals age 18 and above that may legally possess a firearm.  Under federal law\, however\, certain non-U.S. citizens are prohibited from participating in this course.    Only non-U.S. citizens who are: (1) lawfully permanent residents (e.g.\, green card holders); (2) refugees; or (3) individuals who have been granted asylum may participate in this course. Students below age 21 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.  Please coordinate the attendance of students below the age of 21 with Critical Edge in advance of signing up for the class.   There is no training prerequisite for this class.  But\, taking the NRA Basic Pistol course or equivalent before undertaking the Home Defense course is highly encouraged.  Students must be thoroughly familiar with their pistol\, its operation and demonstrate safe firearms handling skills throughout the course. \nProgress through the course is not driven by a schedule.  We will move through the curriculum as quickly or slowly as necessary to allow the students to learn the material. \nOn both days we will begin at 10:00 AM and probably conclude by 6:00 PM.  This course is limited to 9 people. \nSummer class dates: \n\n20-21 July (Wed-Thur)\n17-18 Aug (Wed-Thur)\n\nTo reserve a spot in a class please go to the following to make payment:  https://criticaledge.us/make-a-payment/  The fee for the course is $230.00.  Members of the Duncannon Sportsmen’s Association\, veterans and first responders receive a $10.00 discount.  The fee for active duty members of the U.S military is $130.00.
