SUMMARY:Critical Edge Home Defense Pistol
DESCRIPTION:Registration closed. \nCritical Edge’s Home Defense with Pistol course addresses both the avoidance of attack and the use of force if necessary.  Much of the course deals with techniques and strategies designed to deter burglars\, home invaders and other criminals.   Included are ways to make your home less appealing to criminals who then will be inclined to seek easier targets.  The course emphasizes hands-on training and includes information on defensive shooting skills including shooting positions\, aiming and firing techniques\, the use of cover and concealment\, methods of clearing various types of firearm malfunctions and the development of a home defense plan.   The skills presented in this course form the core shooting skills used to counter a life-threatening attack in the home and include segments on self-defense law and the aftermath of a defensive shooting. \nThe course will be held within an easy driving distance of Harrisburg\, Mechanicsburg\, and Carlisle\, PA at the Duncannon Sportsmen’s Association on the dates below.  We will meet in the Duncannon Sportsmen’s Association clubhouse.  To ensure close personal attention for each student\, this course is limited to 9 people. \nThere are no training prerequisites for this class.  Students\, however\, must be competent in the safe handling and operation of their firearm.  Live fire will be conducted with the student’s pistol and ammunition.  Expect to shoot 250-300 rounds during the live fire segment of the class.  Hearing and eye protection are required as are two extra magazines or\, if a revolver is to be used\, at least two speed loaders.  A belt mounted magazine holder or speed load holder is highly recommended as is a strong side outside the belt holster that was made specifically to fit your pistol.  The drills will be “performance based” and include a degree of stress to develop the student’s knowledge\, competence and confidence. \nThe course is open to U.S. citizens age 21 and above that may legally possess a firearm.  Due to current interpretations of International Traffic in Arms Regulations stemming from the Arms Export Control Act of 1976\, only current\, lawful “US Persons” – both US Citizens and lawful permanent Resident Aliens in possession of a current I-551 (colloquially known as a “Green Card”) are allowed to participate in firearms training courses. \nPreregistration and an initial deposit of 50% is required for registration and reservation of a spot in the class.  You may cancel your reservation up to 72 hours before the class begins and request to receive a full refund. If cancellation is made in less than 72 hours before the class\, you will receive a credit which may be applied to another Critical Edge class at a later date.  Credit must be used within 180 days. \nYou can register for the seminar by sending an email to carl.walker@criticaledge.us with the following information: \nName as you want it to appear on your certificate; \nMailing address; \nPhone number; \nPlease indicate if you are a member of the Duncannon Sportsmen’s Association\, active duty member of the U.S. military\, veteran or first responder; \nThe course title and the date(s) which you wish to attend; and \nThe type and caliber/gauge of any firearm you want to bring to class. \nRegistration may be finalized and payment made at:  https://criticaledge.us/make-a-payment/   The fee for the course is $300.00.  Members of the Duncannon Sportsmen’s Association\, veterans and first responders receive a $35.00 discount.  The fee for members of the U.S. military on active duty is $200.00.
