DESCRIPTION:Pre-registration required. \nThe Critical Edge Intermediate Pistol class is for students at all skill levels from new pistol owners to those who grew up with firearms and want to improve their capabilities.  It is a class designed to bridge the gap between marksmanship on a conventional range and the defensive application of a pistol.  This is an ideal class for someone that has taken a basic pistol class who doesn’t feel they’re quite ready for a home defense or concealed carry course.  It is equally good for an experienced shooter that is new to defensive shooting.   This class is focused on the development of practical pistol skills and is intended to assist participants in achieving much higher levels of proficiency.  Regardless of previous experience it will help to build on the fundamentals of shooting\, foster safety in the handling of firearms and help participants avoid bad habits.  The class goes beyond basic operation and introduces students to the use of a firearm in defensive situations.    This class will reinforce skills learned in Basic Pistol like proper grip\, stance\, sight alignment\, and trigger press\, as well as address common handgun malfunctions\, reloads\, the use of cover and concealment and close quarters application of a defensive firearm.  While the cost of ammunition has dropped considerably from the height of the shortage\, laser pistols will be relied upon as an effective way to learn skills and to reduce ammunition costs. \nThere are no training prerequisites for this class.  Students\, however\, must be competent in the safe handling and operation of their firearm.  The course is open to U.S. citizens age 21 and above that may legally possess a firearm.  Under federal law\, however\, certain non-U.S. citizens are prohibited from participating in this course.    Only non-U.S. citizens who are: (1) lawfully permanent residents (e.g.\, green card holders); (2) refugees; or (3) individuals who have been granted asylum may participate in this course. DESCRIPTION:Registration Closed. \nFor many people\, the term “personal protection” evokes movie images of Bruce Lee or characters such as John Wick with arsenals of weapons.  In truth\, the use of force is only one element of personal protection and is a last resort.  Deterrence\, de-escalation\, escape\, evasion or otherwise avoiding an attack are all preferable resolutions. The Critical Edge Concealed Carry course is basic training for concealed carry.  It focuses on the effective use of a concealed firearm for self-defense.  Included are segments on concealment techniques and devices\, presenting the firearm from concealment\, utilizing cover and concealment\, presentation and movement\, low-light shooting engaging multiple targets and one-hand shooting.  The course also provides training in the development of concealed carry shooting skills\, special defensive shooting techniques\, legal aspects of concealed carry\, self defense and the law and the legal aftermath of a shooting outside the home.  These topics  form the key capabilities used in the concealed carry of a firearm. \nThe course is open to individuals age 21 and above that may legally possess a firearm.  Under federal law\, however\, certain non-U.S. citizens are prohibited from participating in this course.    Only non-U.S. citizens who are: (1) lawfully permanent residents (e.g.\, green card holders); (2) refugees; or (3) individuals who have been granted asylum may participate in this course. SUMMARY:Refuse To Be A Victim
DESCRIPTION:Registration closed. \nThe Refuse to Be A Victim program teaches the techniques and tips needed to be alerted to dangerous situations and to avoid criminal confrontation.  It is not a physical self-defense or firearms class.  Rather\, it seeks to help people improve their personal safety practices and to provide insights into the tactics\, techniques and procedures commonly utilized by perpetrators of crime.  It covers valuable information about the psychology of criminal predators\, mental preparedness\, physical security\, home security\, automobile security\, security during travel\, and personal protection devices.  Such awareness is frequently the single most important factor in avoiding becoming a criminal’s victim. \nThe Refuse To Be  A Victim seminar will be held at the Duncannon Sportsmen’s Association on Wednesday the 3rd of August 2022.  We will start at 9:00 AM and will conclude at approximately 1:00  PM.  But\, depending upon questions\, more or a less time may be required. \nPre-registration is required.  The cost of the seminar is $30.00 and $20.00 per person for second and subsequent members of the same household.  Members of the U.S. military on active duty may attend for free.  Second and subsequent members of an active duty household may attend for $10.00 per person.  You can reserve a spot in the seminar by going to:  www.criticaledge.us/make-a-payment/

DESCRIPTION:Class cancelled due to paving project at the Duncannon Sportsmen’s Association.  Intermediate Pistol will be offered on Aug 13th.. \nThe Critical Edge Intermediate Pistol class is for students at all skill levels from new pistol owners to those who grew up with firearms and want to improve their capabilities.  It is a class designed to bridge the gap between marksmanship on a conventional range and the defensive application of a pistol.  This is an ideal class for someone that has taken a basic pistol class who doesn’t feel they’re quite ready for a home defense or concealed carry course.  It is equally good for an experienced shooter that is new to defensive shooting.   This class is focused on the development of practical pistol skills and is intended to assist participants in achieving much higher levels of proficiency.  Regardless of previous experience it will help to build on the fundamentals of shooting\, foster safety in the handling of firearms and help participants avoid bad habits.  The class goes beyond basic operation and introduces students to the use of a firearm in defensive situations.    This class will reinforce skills learned in Basic Pistol like proper grip\, stance\, sight alignment\, and trigger press\, as well as address common handgun malfunctions\, reloads\, the use of cover and concealment and close quarters application of a defensive firearm.  While the cost of ammunition has dropped considerably from the height of the shortage\, laser pistols will be relied upon as an effective way to learn skills and to reduce ammunition costs. \nThere are no training prerequisites for this class.  Students\, however\, must be competent in the safe handling and operation of their firearm.  The course is open to U.S. citizens age 21 and above that may legally possess a firearm.  Under federal law\, however\, certain non-U.S. citizens are prohibited from participating in this course.    Only non-U.S. citizens who are: (1) lawfully permanent residents (e.g.\, green card holders); (2) refugees; or (3) individuals who have been granted asylum may participate in this course. DESCRIPTION:For many people\, the term “personal protection” evokes movie images of Bruce Lee or characters such as John Wick with arsenals of weapons.  In truth\, the use of force is only one element of personal protection and is a last resort.  Deterrence\, de-escalation\, escape\, evasion or otherwise avoiding an attack are all preferable resolutions. The Critical Edge Concealed Carry course is basic training for concealed carry.  It focuses on the effective use of a concealed firearm for self-defense.  Included are segments on concealment techniques and devices\, presenting the firearm from concealment\, utilizing cover and concealment\, presentation and movement\, low-light shooting engaging multiple targets and one-hand shooting.  The course also provides training in the development of concealed carry shooting skills\, special defensive shooting techniques\, legal aspects of concealed carry\, self defense and the law and the legal aftermath of a shooting outside the home.  These topics  form the key capabilities used in the concealed carry of a firearm. \nThe course is open to individuals age 21 and above that may legally possess a firearm.  There are no course prerequisites.  But\, this is not a beginner’s class.  Students must be totally familiar with the functioning of their handgun and maintain safe firearm handling practices throughout the class.  Under federal law\, however\, certain non-U.S. citizens are prohibited from participating in this course.    Only non-U.S. citizens who are: (1) lawfully permanent residents (e.g.\, green card holders); (2) refugees; or (3) individuals who have been granted asylum may participate in this course. SUMMARY:Critical Edge Concealed Carry
DESCRIPTION:  \nRegistration Closed. \nFor many people\, the term “personal protection” evokes movie images of Bruce Lee or characters such as John Wick with arsenals of weapons.  In truth\, the use of force is only one element of personal protection and is a last resort.  Deterrence\, de-escalation\, escape\, evasion or otherwise avoiding an attack are all preferable resolutions. The Critical Edge Concealed Carry course is basic training for concealed carry.  It focuses on the effective use of a concealed firearm for self-defense.  Included are segments on concealment techniques and devices\, presenting the firearm from concealment\, utilizing cover and concealment\, presentation and movement\, low-light shooting engaging multiple targets and one-hand shooting.  The course also provides training in the development of concealed carry shooting skills\, special defensive shooting techniques\, legal aspects of concealed carry\, self defense and the law and the legal aftermath of a shooting outside the home.  These topics  form the key capabilities used in the concealed carry of a firearm. \nThe course is open to individuals age 21 and above that may legally possess a firearm.  Under federal law\, however\, certain non-U.S. citizens are prohibited from participating in this course.    Only non-U.S. citizens who are: (1) lawfully permanent residents (e.g.\, green card holders); (2) refugees; or (3) individuals who have been granted asylum may participate in this course.
