Critical Edge Home Defense Pistol
September 7, 2024 @ 9:00 am - September 8, 2024 @ 6:00 pm
$255Registration closed.
Critical Edge’s Home Defense with Pistol course addresses both the avoidance of attack and the use of force if necessary. Much of the course deals with techniques and strategies designed to deter burglars, home invaders and other criminals. Included are ways to make your home less appealing to criminals who will be inclined to seek easier targets. The course emphasizes hands on training and includes information on defensive shooting skills including shooting positions, aiming and firing techniques, the use of cover and concealment, methods of clearing various types of firearm malfunctions and development of a home defense plan. The skills presented in this course form the core shooting skills used to counter a life-threatening attack in the home and include segments on self defense law and the aftermath of a defensive shooting.
The course will be held within an easy driving distance of Harrisburg, Mechanicsburg, and
Carlisle, PA at the Duncannon Sportsmen’s Association on the dates below. We will meet in the Duncannon Sportsmen’s Association clubhouse. To ensure close personal attention for each student, this course is limited to 9 people.
There are no training prerequisites for this class. Students, however, must be competent in the safe handling and operation of their firearm. Live fire will be conducted with the student’s pistol and ammunition. Expect to shoot 250-300 rounds during the live fire segment of the class. Hearing and eye protection are required as are two extra magazines or, if a revolver is to be used, at least two speed loaders. A belt mounted magazine or speed load holder is highly recommended as is a strong side belt mounted holster that was made specifically to fit your pistol. The drills will be “performance based” and include a degree of stress to develop the student’s knowledge, competence and confidence.
The course is open to U.S. citizens age 21 and above that may legally possess a firearm. Due to current interpretations of International Traffic in Arms Regulations stemming from the Arms Export Control Act of 1976, only current, lawful “US Persons” – both US Citizens and lawful permanent Resident Aliens in possession of a current I-551 (colloquially known as a “Green Card”) are allowed to participate in firearms training courses.
