NRA Concealed Carry
September 23 @ 9:00 am - September 24 @ 5:00 pm
$255.00Preregistration required.
For many people, the term “personal protection” evokes movie images of Bruce Lee or characters such as John Wick with arsenals of weapons. In truth, the use of force is only one element of personal protection and is a last resort. Deterrence, de-escalation, escape, evasion or otherwise avoiding violence are all preferable resolutions. The NRA Concealed Carry course is basic training for concealed carry. It teaches the basic knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to carry a concealed pistol for personal defense. The NRA CCW Course is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation. It focuses on the effective use of a concealed firearm for self-defense. Course topics include: firearm safety, pistol nomenclature and selecting a pistol for self-defense, basic defensive pistol skills, drawing from concealment, loading and stoppage remediation, mindset, carry modes and pistol concealment, firearm cleaning, and sport shooting and training activities. Additionally, students will complete live fire training and a shooting qualification while on the range with an NRA Certified Instructor. Students will receive reference books, take a NRA CCW Student Examination and receive a course completion certificate.
There are no training prerequisites for this class. But, taking the NRA Basic Pistol course or similar training before undertaking the Concealed Carry course is highly encouraged. Live fire will be conducted with the student’s pistol and ammunition. Expect to shoot 150 rounds during the live fire segment of the class. Hearing and eye protection are required as are at least three magazines or, if a revolver is to be used, at least two speed loaders. A belt mounted double magazine holder or double speed load holder and a strong side outside the waistband belt mounted holster that was specifically made to fit your pistol are also required.
The course will be held within an easy driving distance of Harrisburg, Mechanicsburg, and Carlisle, PA at the Duncannon Sportsmen’s Association on the dates below. We will meet in the Duncannon Sportsmen’s Association clubhouse. To ensure close personal attention for each student, this course is limited to 9 people.
The course is open to U.S. citizens age 21 and above that may legally possess a firearm. Due to current interpretations of International Traffic in Arms Regulations stemming from the Arms Export Control Act of 1976, only current, lawful “US Persons” – both US Citizens and lawful permanent Resident Aliens in possession of a current I-551 (colloquially known as a “Green Card”) are allowed to participate in NRA firearms training courses.
